Learn who we are, where we’ve come from, and why everything we do has Jesus at the core.
The Four56 is a church in San Angelo built on knowing and enjoying God. We believe
the gospel is simple yet life-changing—Jesus is God, He died for our sins, rose from
the dead, is coming back, and faith in Him saves.
What began in 2009 with a handful of people meeting on Thursday nights has grown
into a thriving community gathered at Dove Creek and now in a new worship center.
From 40 people in the early days to packed services today, the story of The Four56 has
always been about the gospel of Jesus transforming lives.
Led by pastors Micah, Pierce, and Ryan, our church is guided by a shared leadership
model built on accountability, character, and a singular mission: to glorify Jesus, equip
believers, and live out the hope of the gospel together.
At the heart of The Four56 is one desire: that you would know and enjoy Jesus. Everything we do—our teaching, our worship, our community—flows from who He is and what He has done. If you’re new to church, or maybe you’ve never heard the gospel before, here are the five foundational truths that shape everything we believe:
1. Jesus is God
2. Jesus died for our sins
3. Jesus was raised from the dead
4. Jesus is coming back
5. Faith in Jesus saves
These truths are the foundation of our faith and the reason we gather as a church in San Angelo. (You can watch this short video to hear more about what these truths mean for us today.)
We believe Scripture in context changes everything. Too often, verses are pulled out of their setting and lose the richness of God’s bigger story. At The Four56, you will often hear the phrase “context matters.” We are convinced that when the Bible is taught in its fullness, people encounter God in ways that transform their faith and their lives.
That very conviction shapes our worship and our community. We gather in unity, proclaiming God’s greatness with joy and adoration, and we grow together as a family rooted in His truth. More than a Sunday service, The Four56 is a place to encounter God, be transformed by His Word, and live out the hope of the gospel in everyday life.
Our name, The Four56 Church, is derived from Ephesians 4:4–6, which says: “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you also were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.”
The Four56 began in 2008, when Ryan felt a deep conviction to plant a church in San Angelo that would be different — a church built on teaching Scripture in its full context and gathering people around Christ, not programs or traditions. He and Micah returned to San Angelo and, despite being told repeatedly that their approach was “the wrong way to start a church” and that it would never work, they pressed on. The first service was held on September 17, 2009, on a Thursday night with just a handful of people. For the next nine months, they gathered weekly until shifting to Sunday evenings in 2010, averaging around 20–40 people.
Those early years were lean but powerful. There were no staff salaries and little in the way of resources, but there was a clear focus: preach the Word faithfully, love people well, and live in authentic community. In time, God opened a surprising door. In 2019, a local Baptist association invited The Four56 to take over their un-used Dove Creek property — even though the Four56 isn’t a Baptist church. With that move, weekly attendance jumped from around 40 to 140, and the church began to see steady growth as more people discovered the power of Scripture in context.
Fast forward to today, and the story continues. In 2025, the Four56 completed a new building project with a worship center and children’s area that were designed to bring the whole church together in one service. But on the very first Sunday, the room was so full that the Pastors immediately decided to move to two services instead. What started with a few dozen people meeting on Thursday nights has grown into a vibrant, Christ-centered community just outside of San Angelo, united in knowing and enjoying God together.
At Four56, leadership isn’t about titles or visibility—it’s about responsibility, stewardship, and guiding others toward a shared vision in Jesus. Micah, Pierce, and Ryan serve as overseers, not because they are the most popular or polished, but because they are Biblically qualified, committed to shepherding well, holding one another accountable, and making decisions rooted in Christ.
We believe leadership works best as a plurality, where each person’s unique gifts —teaching, vision, and care—combine to serve the whole church. This structure allows us to focus on what truly matters: glorifying Jesus, equipping Godly men and women to serve, and keeping the heart of our ministry consistent regardless of size, location, or circumstance.
At The Four56, our “why” is clear: leadership exists to cultivate healthy, Gospel- centered communities where people are cared for, challenged, and equipped to live out their faith. Our core values guide every conversation, every decision, and every ministry initiative, ensuring that even when disagreements arise, the focus remains on the mission, not personal preference.
We worship one God, creator and maker of all things, holy and immutable. He is the Lord God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth.
We exalt Jesus as fully God. Jesus is one with God the Father, coequal in power and glory. All things which have been made came through Jesus, and in him alone is salvation found. Jesus is the sole mediator between God and mankind. He was crucified to bear our sins and thereby to overthrow sin's power. Jesus, raised from the dead, conquered death; and in his resurrection is the promise of everlasting life for all who put their faith in him.
We are grateful for the Holy Spirit who was given to us as a seal, securing our salvation, and as a teacher who guides us daily into the truth of Jesus. We acknowledge that when we submit our lives to the Spirit we will not carry out our sinful desires.
We rejoice that our salvation is the work of the gracious God who loves us. Our salvation is a matter of our faith in him and the work he accomplished through his son on the cross.
We delight in being part of the body of redeemed believers known as the church, and we understand our unity and submission to Christ is a sign not only to this age, but also to the rulers and authorities in heavenly places of God's manifold wisdom and his eternal purposes carried out through Jesus.
We love the grace of God that allows us to stand before him uncondemned, without spot or blemish. We recognize God's grace has not only redeemed us, but also empowers us and frees us to holy living.
We celebrate our new identity in God through Christ as righteous, saints, holy ones, and beloved children. Nothing can threaten our new identity or call it into question since it is secured on our behalf by Christ.
We put full confidence in the everlasting word of God, knowing he only speaks what is true and upholds all his promises and covenants. We rest in the truth that God has made himself known through his word.
We wait joyfully for the return of Jesus when this present heavens and earth will be replaced with the eternal kingdom of God. Our steadfast hope is fully set on the return of Jesus, and it is this return which stirs in us a desire for holy living and godliness during our time on earth.
